ISCHS Galway 2017

Dear all,

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend the 19th International Symposium on Cells of the Hepatic Sinusoid (ISCHS 2017), which will be held in Galway, Ireland from 14th to 17th June, 2017. The conference will be held in the National University of Ireland Galway Conference Centre on the University Campus.

As with previous symposia, the main aim of the 19th ISCHS Symposium is to provide a forum for basic scientists and clinical researchers to meet and discuss recent developments in research on the biology of the cells of the hepatic sinusoid in health and disease. A second and equally important aim is to provide a forum for young investigators to present their work in a friendly and supportive environment

One of the main themes of the 19th ISCHS will be the involvement of the gut microbiota in liver disease and in liver regeneration. The inaugural address to be given on the first evening will be by Dr. Fergus Shanahan, Director of the world-renowned Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)-funded APC Microbiome Institute in Cork Ireland.

2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the First International Kupffer Cell Symposium, held in The Netherlands in 1977. To mark the occasion Professor Eddie Wisse (The Netherland), co-organiser of that meeting will reflect on research developments in the field from those early days.
